on the increase among the Muslims in Kerala.
Jeddah Indian Islahi Center has a marriage
counseling bureau functioning for the
benefit of its members as well as other
Muslim brothers who find it difficult to
find a suitable marriage alliance for
themselves or for their sons or daughters or
relatives due to various reasons such as:
1) Expensive rituals and customs which has
crept into the Kearlite Muslim community
from other communities
2) Huge amounts of dowry to be paid to the
bridegroom - a concept that is totally
against the spirit of Islamic Mahr.
3) Divorcees and the widowed find it very
difficult to find suitable matches again in
view of the simple fact that they are
divorced or widowed and
4) Disparities in financial, social and
family status
There are so many other reasons which arise
from time to time and unique in nature.
JIIC Marriage Counseling Bureau collects a
fairly good database of bachelors, and
widowers from both male and female sides.
After examining the needs of the aspirants
suitable matches are selected and informed
to them. The Bureau acts as a mediator and
tries to connect the families.
